I was hired to re-design and lead the development for the Franchise123 web and mobile experience from their previous MVP version of their Product.
As the newly appointed product manager and designer for the Franchise 123 project, my primary responsibility was to craft an experience for the new Franchise123 platform that mirrored the user-friendly interface of Zillow. Armed with a rudimentary brief and a basic design system, I was tasked with infusing a fresh look and feel into this two-sided marketplace.
The Franchise123 team, aiming to replicate the user experience of Zillow, proceeded directly to the UI design phase. My first task was to conceptualize the initial impression of the homepage that Franchise123's customers would encounter. Subsequently, I developed two distinct core color schemes for the team to evaluate and choose from. Upon approval of the homepage and color scheme, I shifted focus to the fundamental Zillow-like search feature, constructing various components and flows to define and visualize the logic for the development team. I then circled back to the homepage, constructing the onboarding experience for the two different user personas. Given the two-sided marketplace, each persona's onboarding journey involved distinct logic, necessitating a more intricate design process to ensure coherence. After completing the onboarding journeys, I proceeded to build the franchise profile page, envisioning it to resemble a LinkedIn-style page where franchise owners could easily build out their profiles and provide relevant data for prospective franchisees or those seeking to purchase a franchise. Subsequently, I concentrated on developing the communication or chat feature, enabling franchisees and franchisors to interact and share documents. This marked the culmination of the core look and functionality of the new Franchise123 product.
Upon completing the design phase, I engaged with the Romanian-based development team to plan the sprint. However, during this stage, the Franchise123 team made the challenging decision to halt any new development efforts until further notice. As a result, the project is currently on pause, with no anticipated timeline for resumption. More Images of the project can be seen below.
