As a founding member of Versus (VS), I spearheaded all aspects of product research, design, and development for our iOS, Android, and web app, as well as our marketing website. Versus is an interactive training app that offers users access to developmental content from professional athletes and coaches, along with the ability to engage with them using industry-exclusive conversational AI technology. During this process, I led a team consisting of 4 UX designers, 2 UI designers, and 10 developers, contributing significantly to the design of the entire product suite, which successfully launched in June of 2022.
Reimagine learning by brining the worlds most innovative and disruptive sports training app to market.
As we navigated the challenging waters of brining a new product and technology to market, it required plenty of research to identify and validate our product market fit, as well as our target audience. Alongside a team of researchers and our very talented marketing team, I led and helped architect various studies over the course of four weeks to gather valuable data to help guide the design experience and content strategy for Versus.
After gathering sufficient market and user data to inform our direction, we began the next phase of the project. I took the lead in coordinating sprint planning with three different teams, navigating schedules across four time zones and two continents. Given the complexity, we developed a custom design and development sprint schedule for the next 7 months. To meet our aggressive timeline, we implemented a batch system, allowing us to design and approve portions of the project in parallel, with the aim of timely market entry.
After defining our sprints, the UX design process kicked off. In this initial phase, I collaborated with two talented UX designers to shape the vision of the Versus product across four UX batches. Upon completing each batch, we presented the initial designs to the Versus team for feedback, which influenced the subsequent iterations. Following these presentations, I facilitated internal design review meetings to conduct a more detailed review. During this review process, I organized notes for changes and categorized certain parts of the designs as 'approved' to move forward to the UI phase.
After successfully completing the UI design process for the Versus product, we encountered a significant challenge with the development team. A change in the development team occurred midway through the process, requiring me to vet, hire, onboard, and lead new team members as the Senior Product Manager and Scrum Master. Despite this unexpected hurdle, we managed to successfully ship the Versus mobile app for both iOS and Android, followed by the marketing website and web app.
